It Worked!

“It worked!”

Ahhhh … music to my ears.

You would think that after teaching the same group of people for several months, that they would have figured out that (every now and then) I know what I am talking about. But it seems that sometimes they need a little extra reinforcement. So tonight after seeing one student move too close to a jump which caused his dog to take an off course, I asked the question “dogs follow your motion. How many times if I said that?” Answer? “About a thousand times.”

Sigh. 

The good news is that the next time he tried the sequence, he stayed further back, his dog wrapped the jump tightly (without the handler yelling “come!”) and then they finished the sequence beautifully. The other students clapped, the handler had a big smile on his face, and his dog got lots of cookies. 

I love my job.
